101 Awesome Songs, Actually Decent Music...

So, if any of you don't understand the reference in my title, the particular string of words is from a wonderful scene in The Perks Of Being a Wallflower. I've been really meaning to read the book since I enjoyed the movie so much, and since the book is almost always better. This is next to impossible right now since I have the challenges of five more finals in the six days that are left of school, learning how to play the bass guitar so I'm not the only person in my band who isn't multi-instrumental, and that little issue of finding a job (I've applied to seven places and three have gotten back to me, but I do have an interview, so that's a plus). Also, there are about twenty books ahead of it on my "to read" list.

In short, I'm kind of ridiculously busy, so for now I will just have to enjoy music and be satisfied with its form of stress relief.

101 Awesome Songs, High on Life and it Feels SO Good...

Welcome, welcome! I don't exactly know why but today just seems like a rather fantastic day. Maybe it's just because I'm finally getting enough oxygen to my brain and that is making me super duper high on life. Whatever it is, it is wonderful, and I think you guys deserve something that is equally as wonderful. Spoiler alert, that thing is Grunge Jesus, or Dave Grohl, and The Foo Fighters.

101 Awesome Songs, Because You Are More...

So, my lovelies, I have a problem. This problem is a problem that is very dear to me because it has affected me in a very personal way. This problem I have is the romanticism of suicide that has taken my generation by storm, and taken friends of mine with it.

This is something that I'm trying to remedy, and I don't know in what way I can really do that other than with music.

This is The End...

Or, is it?

Seriously, I don't understand why all these people who have been doing blogs all year long are suddenly quitting and leaving their little blogosphere to fester in the depths of the internet.

Talk Dirty? I Would Rather Talk Nerdy...

So, my lovelies, I don't usually insist upon things, but I am insisting upon this. YOU MUST WATCH THIS VIDEO OR I WILL INFLICT MY FIERY WRATH UPON YOU AND MY WRATH IS QUITE THE WRATH BECAUSE I DO NOT UNLEASH THE WRATH EXCEPT FOR ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS SO DO NOT MAKE ME WASTE MY WRATH ON THE FACT THAT YOU DIDN'T WATCH A YOUTUBE VIDEO.

101 Awesome Songs, Poetry With a Beat...

So, it has come to my attention that rap is regarded as sort of the "scum" of music (meaning only illiterates and hoodlums listen to it). Personally, I think that's a ridiculous accusation, at least in some situations. Specifically, I'm talking about Macklemore and Eminem. They aren't just talking about getting high and getting laid. They are making art with their words, and laying it all out on the a table to a heart pounding beat. Don't believe me? Take these songs for a little test drive and see if I can change your mind.
*Warning: Every song past this point is at least a little bit vulgar.*

101 Awesome Songs, Sounds Like Freedom...

Image Credit: This Song Is Sick
So, I've recently been noticing that this world has been experiencing quite a bit of a drought when it comes to the happiness factor, and I personally think that should be remedied. Not that I can make everyone happy, but honestly, Macklemore can get pretty close. Even when he doesn't make you happy, he makes us feel whole.

I think that's pretty cool.

Well, happy (not-so-happy) sick day to me. Today I will be giving you another one of my wonderfully awesome songs. Are you ready?

Silence in Verse...

To those of you who don't know, today is the day of silence, and from the time I woke up this morning to the time I go to sleep tonight (or midnight, whichever comes first), I will be silent. I am proud of my self in the fact that I have only slipped twice, and each time I have caught myself before more than a word has dropped from my lips. I don't know if my silence today has made a difference, but I know that being silent has caused a change in me. So, I wrote a poem.

Behind the Silence...

Tomorrow, I will be silent, but before then, I thought I should at least tell someone why.

101 Awesome Songs, Aggravation, Desperation...

So, here's my thinking on that there title. This week has been a flurry of aggravation, desperation, and right now, my currency is urgency. I am so done with anything that has do with school right now, and I would just love to eat my pita chips in peace.

But first, I guess I should review a song.

Damn, That's a Fine Shoulder...

Me, with my "damn fine" shoulders.
So, here's my dilemma. Today at school, I got "dress coded" because apparently I was showing too much skin. That said, I know I have a large henna tattoo running the length of my left arm, but my vice principal complimented me on that, so it wasn't the issue. Either way, I personally do not feel like my shirt shows too much skin, but I would like the opinions of other people.

Some Say I'm Psychic...

Some say I'm psychic, but I prefer to say that I just perceive things differently. The idea of Extra Sensory Perception seems to be the best fit for me. I know that many people will be totally skeptical of this, but I thought that this topic needs some explaining.

First off, let me explain why people think I'm psychic.

101 Awesome Songs, Adventures in AP Geography...

The Dropkick Murphys
Welcome, welcome my friends. It's been a long time since I've done a post on a specific song, and this one definitely deserves some time to shine.

The short backstory on this song is that my AP Geography teacher told us that if we had our phones out in class he would replace our music with Irish punk. The majority of the class was basically ecstatic at this, so then he threatened Hannah Montana music, and that really makes me cringe. He then proceeded to play songs like this for us, and I am rather excited to share its glory with you.

Life in Stereo, Answering Questions...

Me, in all my four-eyed glory.
Look, I got glasses! It's like seeing in HD!

So, I don't know if any of you really care, but if you do, here is the answering part to the musical clue post that I posted last week.

I know I said I would do this on Friday, but I don't think I have the time, since tomorrow I am going to state for Debate and I am already freaking out as it is, so I don't need this hanging over my head.

Anyways, here it goes...

Life in Stereo...

The Mighty Moose! (From left to right: Sara's hand, me, Abi, Jordan, Caroline, Emily (one of our instructors), Morgan, Allie, and Allison (one of our instructors). (Not pictured: Noah, Jorge, Mr. T, and Greg)

So, if you are a continuous follower of my blog, you probably know that I went on this crazy awesome trip to the Teton Science School in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was pretty damn fantastic, and if you want to know more, click nya.

Anyways,  to the main point of this post, I thought I would try and tell the story of my life in songs. I'll give the songs, and then next week I will explain the significance of these songs.

You can listen to all the songs if you have the time, or just the titles, and leave any guesses in the comments please.

Tetontastic (That Abomination of a Word is NOT my Fault)...

So, for all you people who are mildly interested in what I do with my life, I'm going to be at a field science school for the next week, so I'm rather excited for that, and I will be blogging on the collective blog for the students that you can get to here if you have any interest in that. Just a little FYI.

Screw it, Let's Debate...

So, if you have been following along in my blogging journey, you may have noticed that I have recently taken up Debate. Well, this week I placed third in my region for Oratory, and I get to go to the state tournament in two weeks! I think I might just die of excitement from this. Anyways, since I'm probably going to be talking about Debate a lot, I thought I should give you a run-down on what the hell it is I'm going to be talking about.

14 Songs to Make You Swoon...

Well, let's start this off by saying I think Valentine's Day is an overrated holiday because people should be able to love each other all the time, and show it, too. So, while I don't really understand why we have this day, it's a good excuse for me to do a post about love songs.

Wasatch Wipeout, Part 2 (My Adventures with the Verbal Assault Squad)...

Beginning my second fear induced adventure into the Debate/Forensics world. First off, you should know that I am a Novice, and Wasatch Wipeout is an Open (Advanced) Tournament. So, basically, I was feeling like the whole night was just going to be one huge fuster cluck.

Honestly, it wasn't that bad though. I didn't die of anxiety or asthma, and I didn't break down crying every time I gave my speech, because this time it wasn't about the sad parts of life. This Oratory was about one of my true loves, music.

You've Got Anxiety, I've Got Anxiety, Let's Make a Playlist...

So, not to insinuate by any means that anyone is mentally unstable, I'm just saying that we all have nervous break downs every once in a while. Especially people like me who have a lot going on with their family, and take all honors classes, and do extracurricular activities as well. Plus, asthma. Enough said there.

Anyways, I'm currently freaking-the-freak out about my debate tournament tomorrow, during which I will be giving a ten minute speech that I've barely memorized tonight and being judged against people who have been doing this far longer than I have, seeing as this is only my second tournament and I don't even take debate class. It's not like I've bitten my nails entirely off, but, well, let's just say it's hard typing with band-aids on all of your fingers. I'm only half joking.

So, Super Bowl Sunday. Wings, and yelling, and football (woooooooo.... not really). Anyways, the only reason I am actually concerned about the Super Bowl this year is that my friend, Avery is convinced the Broncos will win and I beg to differ. And now we have a bet which involves the loser writing on their face that the opposing team rules for a day or they have to wear the opposing teams jersey for the day. So, yeah.

Please supplement your opinion in the poll on the side.

101 Awesome Songs, Welcome to the Black Parade...

After a long day of battling with respiratory distress I love kicking back and attempting to relax, watching my crime dramas and listening to some fantastic rib cage shaking metal, or even some soft rock. Really anything that will make me feel.

Anyways, here's another song for your enjoyment, and may I say, welcome to the black parade.

Copper Classic (An Adventure with the Verbal Assault Squad) Part One...

"I have three hints for becoming a good speaker, Charlie Brown. You must know when to stand up, when to speak up, and when to shut up."

So, I've begun my foray into the art of Forensics/Public Speaking. I gave five speeches in all, three on Friday between one and ten o'clock at night, and then two between six thirty in the morning Saturday and six pm that night. I did a lot of sitting around and talking with people, and we were all dressed in very fancy clothing. I felt quite classy.

My Initiation to the Verbal Assault Squad ( and a Smattering of Little News)

So, I'm back, though you may or may not care. In the little news, which is basically my life, I had an interesting Christmas break, filled with loot and family issues, like usual. I went and saw the lights hung in Temple Square with le boyfriend and his family (thank you), which was quite nice, and recently had my friend do a rune casting for me, which was very helpful.
